Iranian director Asgarpour serving as jury at Yerevan festival

Iranian director Mohammad Mehdi Asgarpour is judging at the 19th Golden Apricot Yerevan Int'l Film Festival in Armenia.

Iranian director Mohammad Mehdi Asgarpour has been leading the official jury panel of the 19th Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival (GAIFF) in Armenia.

Asgarpour and four other members of the jury are currently judging the 11 entries in the international competition section of the festival which opened on Sunday in Yerevan.

The jury panel also includes Terry George (the US), Orwa Nyrabia (the Netherlands), Florian Hoffmann (Germany), and Nora Martirosyan (France).

Asgarpour graduated from the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting University. He started his career in 1987 by making several short films.

He made his debut feature film in 1991. He served as head of several organizations, including the Farabi Cinema Foundation and Iranian Alliance of Motion Picture Guilds.

He is currently the vice president of FIAPF – International Federation of Film Producers Association and the managing director of the Iranian Artists Forum.

The Yerevan festival has selected several Iranian films to screen in its various sections including ‘Water, Wind, Dust, Bread’, ‘The Apple Day’, ‘Dear Bibi’, ‘Laboratory No. 2’ and ‘Subtotals’.  

The Armenian film festival will run until July 17, 2022.
